He worked in paint, printmaking and photography (though he once wrote that "the camera cannot compete with a brush and canvas, as long as it can't be used in heaven and hell"). His works concentrate on the human dramas of love and death, and on contemporary conditions of claustrophobia and alienation-or what he called "the modern life of the soul"-frequently deploying contemporary effects to depict this condition. Though he is more often viewed as a semi-lunatic Symbolist or proto-Expressionist, the great Norwegian artist Edvard Munch (1863-1944) was in fact a forerunner of much Modern art. The 10th Anniversary edition is definitely my favorite, with a simple color scheme and a faded rose on the cover. Just wanted to check, like I said I swear it was hooks 1-4 that came with that very first hardcover box set. I’m never a fan on movie tie-in editions because I just don’t like people on covers, but by having a cohesive color scheme and really making the title pop with the bright pink, it felt a little more unique and original. They did rebrand them in 2013, but they didn’t improve it much. The original covers are a little cringey, but kinda the classic YA paranormal type. It has gone through so many cover changes, and honestly, I just want this epic series to have the covers it deserves. This series is so much better than all of its covers combined (However I do like the 10th Anniversary edition). 5/10/2023 0 Comments Audrey waitIf I go to sleep tonight and then wake up in another story, I want it to be Audrey’s.The are some notes I made while reading it: I think I’ve underlined half of the book and 99% of those quotes are laugh-inducing. Now, all I think is what the hell went through my head that I didn’t pick it up sooner?! I’ve had this book for a while (Christmas in fact), but it wasn’t until I saw it rated by someone on GoodReads that I remembered having it. Oh well, I lied, I took this picture quite a while ago, but it fits the situation perfectly :p I am afraid I won’t be able to make justice to the cuteness of this book or to put into words how amazingly fun this story has been, so I will leave the proof below for everyone to see it.Įven my t-shirt was laughing-out-loud while I read this book: teens will love and won't be able to put down." -"School Library Journal on ALFRED KROPP AND THE SEAL OF SOLOMON" "A great book for boys, as well as reluctant readers. When I step back and look at Animal Attraction, I’m actually not a huge fan of Dell, but in the moment, I really thought he was sweet and caring with her, which won me over to his relationship with Jade. His two older brothers, future sister-in-law, and now Jade. However, he’s very loyal and protective to the people who he’s allowed close enough to him. Nice guy, but doesn’t have a good track record with women. He’s the love-em-and-leave-em type, since he’s terrified of falling in love and getting dumped. Former foster kid with extreme abandonment issues. I definitely thought that the chemistry and tension between them was believable and realistic (except when it wasn’t).įirstly, you have Dell. Dell was a kind, caring guy with a soft spot for animals, and Jade is organized and self-reliant, if not self-confident, for reasons that soon become obvious. The romantic couple here is Jade and Dell, who I really enjoyed together (except when I didn’t). At the same time, there were some aspects about this romance that I found to be infinitely frustrating, though not in a way that was entirely detrimental to my enjoyment overall. Animal Attraction is my second novel by Shalvis, and at this point, I’m definitely going to consider myself a fan. I liked this book for sure, but I have some mixed feelings all the same. |
